Nicholas Lorenzo
BOULDER, Colo. -- A 25-year-old Boulder County man accused of masturbating behind the meat counter of a Louisville grocery story has turned down a plea bargain and will stand trial.
Nicholas Lorenzo was charged with one count of charge of indecent exposure. He entered a not guilty plea previously, after turning down a plea bargain that would have given him five years probation and a requirement that he register as a sex offender.
A female customer of the Louisville Safeway said she was shopping in the meat department with her infant on Jan. 31, when Lorenzo asked her if she was finding everything. She told investigators that she noticed some movement behind the glass the meat display and saw Lorenzo "holding his penis," according to the arrest affidavit. The woman told police that Lorenzo began masturbating while talking to her and then saw the shock on her face. She said he placed his penis back in his pants.
The woman said she started walking away from the meat counter and looked back to see Lorenzo masturbating again. After reporting the incident to the store's manager, police were called and Lorenzo was arrested. When police asked about the allegations, Lorenzo admitted to "having his penis out of his pants," according to the arrest affidavit.
The Louisville Safeway, at 707 South Boulder Road, closed in May because Safeway officials said the aging store was underperforming.
During Friday's disposition hearing, the case was set for trial on Sept. 7
